Most babies born in government hospitals can be classified as the poorest of the poor. Cases have been reported of babies being taken home wrapped in newspaper. In honour of Nelson Mandela day on 18th July Henley Business School Africa has encouraged staff and students to support its Amor project by donating new or used baby items.
Although there are challenges in doing business in Africa, the long-term benefits can be enormous. Africa is rising and the continent is beginning to offer significant opportunities.
At the ‘Henley Africa Focus’ event last week, the speakers were Mike Bowers, business development manager for Petronas Lubricants Africa and Victor Kgomoeswana, radio and TV presenter and business consultant for Africa. The facilitators were Dr Elena Baleska-Spasova, programme director at Henley UK and Dr Adri Drotski, Henley Africa MBA director.
